Extracting the text to the left of the last token (word) from an excel cell

=LEFT(A1,SEARCH("ì",SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","ì",LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","")))))
Here is how this is can be achieved:
1. Find out the number of times the separator occurs. This can be acheived by finding the difference in length between the orginal text and the text after removing the separator character. LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,".",""))
2. Replace the last occurrence of the separator with a special character, say "ì". SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","ì",LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","")))
3. Find the location of the special character, "ì": SEARCH("ì",SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","ì",LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,".",""))))
4. Select the text that falls on the left side of the location found in #3 =LEFT(A1,SEARCH("ì",SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","ì",LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","")))))
-Use some other special character if the text already contains "ì"-The token separator here is "." (useful when separating test names from the table in test results).
